That’s why MSI takes care directly to them. We’ve built local programmes that reach remote communities who typically cannot access reproductive health services.
Our 350 outreach teams across Africa, Asia and Latin America travel long distances to offer modern contraception methods – and abortion where legally permitted – directly to communities.
Our mobile outreach teams travel by 4×4, boat and even on foot to reach communities where healthcare is hardest to access.
How mobile outreach works
Before a team arrives, community mobilisers speak with local people, answer questions and challenge myths about contraception.
Then our teams set up at a local health facility or in a tent. Women can learn about their options and speak privately with a trained provider about what is right for them.
They can choose from short – and long-term contraceptive methods, with the freedom to continue, change or remove their method later.
And the model works.
In 2025, MSI outreach teams reached 5.2 million people who previously had little or no access to reproductive healthcare. More than half of the people supported by these teams had no other way to access contraception.
For women living far from a clinic, that visit can mean the freedom to plan a pregnancy, continue an education, support a family, or simply decide what comes next.
