We have some incredible news to share from our MSI colleagues in the UK — and it’s a powerful reminder that progress is possible when we fight for it together.
Just last month, the UK Parliament voted in favour of a landmark reform:
To end the criminalisation of women who end their own pregnancies.
This historic vote means that no one in the UK will face prison for ending a pregnancy. No one will be subjected to invasive criminal investigations following a miscarriage or unexplained pregnancy loss. It’s a major step forward in protecting the dignity, privacy and rights of women and people who can become pregnant.
MSI has been fighting for this change for years — and this victory was only possible thanks to relentless advocacy by our team in the UK, working alongside over 40 pro-choice organisations, including doctors, nurses, gender-based violence experts and abortion providers.
As Louise McCudden, our Head of External Affairs at MSI UK, put it:
“At a time when we’re seeing rollbacks on reproductive rights around the world, this sends a powerful message: our lawmakers are standing up for women.”
Your support of MSI Asia Pacific makes you part of this global movement for reproductive choice.
While this vote happened in the UK, the message it sends is for all of us. It also strengthens our work across the globe, where too many people still face stigma, barriers, or even jail time for making choices about their own bodies.
We’re not stopping here. Together, we’ll keep fighting to ensure that no one, anywhere, is punished for choosing what’s right for them.
